STEREOTACTIC BIOPSY

Frameless stereotactic biopsy for brain lesions

A Biopsy for brain lesion is the procedure that is indicated when we need to define its nature. Now days a frameless robotic system  is used that provides accurate guidance with millimetric accuracy to the target.

A special robotic system is used, taking all information needed form the patients MRI, and with special software leads either the Robotic arm or Free hand tool by the neurosurgeon at the predetermined entry point on the skull with the correct angle to the proper depth in order to reach the target lesion.

The surgical procedure lasts 30 minutes. The patient remains in the hospital for 24 hours for the necessary monitoring.
